Can You See Us? - Friends Collective + Kim Garcia (2016-2018)

A collaborative project commissioned by the MCASD through their Millennial Engagement initiative. The project turns to the museum’s collection to think about how the art object circulates within the relationships of artist, curator, registrar, and viewer as it shifts in meaning within the dynamics of those roles.

Originally in collaboration between Kim Garcia and San Diego Mesa College’s Sculpture +  Museum Studies Program, and MCASD. Garcia invited Friends Collective (Lawrence Chit, Kim Garcia, and Liz Stringer) to stage the third and final portion of the collaboration at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
